Our friend the woodpecker.
While beautiful to watch, the woodpecker can be a E.I.F.S owners worst nightmare. Woodpeckers love foam stucco, they use the hollow sound the foam stucco provides when they are 'drumming' which is their way of making themselves known to other birds.
This continuous drumming can easily penetrate the very thin layer of acrylic and basecoat that is applied to the foam sheets underneath. The bird then picks away at the foam and the home owner is then left with a sizeable hole and a phone call to their local stucco professional.
In some cases foam architectural details or cornices can become a nesting ground for all sorts of birds. As depicted in one of our case studies.
Nexgen stucco has quite a bit of experience with these types of repairs and can recommend the best course of action to solve the problem.
We fix small holes to large nested cornices, and have very effective techniques to stop further damage to affected areas.
